The Henry County Humane Society (HCHS) is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, licensed by the Georgia State Department of Agriculture. Since 1982, HCHS has served as a bridge between homelessness and permanent, loving homes while advocating for the right of all animals to live safely and happily.
Originally founded as a foster-based program, HCHS transported animals to adoption events before establishing a physical shelter in the former Henry County Animal Care and Control building. In 2024, we relocated to our current facility on Hwy 81 in McDonough. We continue to work closely with local animal control to reduce overcrowding and find forever homes for impounded and unwanted pets.
To further our mission, we are actively working toward building a new shelter that will provide expanded space, improved resources, and a safer, more comfortable environment for the animals in our care. This new facility will allow us to save more lives and better serve our community.
HCHS is entirely donation-funded—we receive no financial support from county, state, or federal government programs. Your generosity directly saves lives by providing shelter, medical care, and adoption services for animals in need.
